Research:  As the director of the clinical trials program in pediatric psychopharmacology research at Massachusetts General Hospital for over 10 years, Dr. McDonnell was a co-investigator of 81 research studies of psychiatric disorders and medications. She continues to conduct psychiatric research studies in her private practice, South Shore Psychiatric Services in Hingham, MA.

Selected Accomplishments: Dr. McDonnell is the author of a book entitled “Is Your Child Bipolar” and “Positive Parenting for Bipolar Kids” and was an expert consultant for a series of 30 books on child and adolescent psychopathology. She has 10 scientific publications in the area of psychopharmacology in children, adolescents and adults and is a sought after public speaker for conferences and education seminars across the country.
